Silvio Berlusconi owned “Milan” for 30 years and won dozens of trophies with it. The club expressed condolences to the family and friends of the former Prime Minister of Italy
“AC Milan” has announced that it deeply mourns the death of the former owner of the team, former Prime Minister of Italy Silvio Berlusconi, who will forever remain with the club.
Berlusconi passed away on June 12 at the age of 86.
“Milan” is deeply saddened and mourns the loss of the unforgettable Silvio Berlusconi. We also warmly embrace his family, colleagues, and closest friends. Tomorrow, we will dream of different goals, come up with new challenges, and strive for other victories that are necessary to realize the goodness, strength, and reality that exist within all of us who have dedicated our lives to the dream called ‘AC Milan’,” the club’s statement says.
Berlusconi held the position of AC Milan’s president since 1986 and in April 2017, he completed the sale of the club to the Chinese-American consortium Rossoneri Sport Investment Lux for an estimated €740 million.
During his tenure, the team won the Italian championship eight times, the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Super Cup five times each, as well as the Club World Cup and other trophies.
