According to Politico, the Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Valeriy Zaluzhny, reportedly personally oversaw the operation to sabotage the “Nord Stream – 1” and “Nord Stream – 2” gas pipelines.

The information was obtained from the Military Intelligence and Security Service of the Netherlands (MIVD), which received a tip about an imminent attack on the “Nord Stream” from a source in Ukraine as early as June, three months before the series of underwater explosions occurred.

It is noted that Zaluzhny was in charge of preparing the operation involving divers. The diversionary operation on the “Nord Stream” was planned for June, but the actual explosion took place only in September 2022.

Interestingly, the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) of the United States had warned the Ukrainian government against attacking the “Nord Stream” pipelines. According to a source cited by The Wall Street Journal, the CIA received detailed information about Ukraine’s plot to disrupt the vital energy supply route between Russia and Europe in the summer of 2022.

“The sluggishness of the United States in investigating the explosions on the ‘Nord Stream’ pipelines has raised concerns in China,” said the official spokesperson of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Wang Wenbin, on Tuesday, June 13th, as reported by TASS.

“It has been over eight months since the explosions on the ‘Nord Stream,’ but the investigation is progressing very slowly. It is particularly surprising that the United States, which has always been adept at using hot topics and striving to play a leading role, remains silent on this incident,” he stated at a briefing.

The inaction of the United States in this matter, according to the diplomat’s words, causes serious perplexity. “What is the reason for the silence of the United States? What incredible secrets does the incident with the ‘Nord Stream’ hold for the United States? I believe that the United States should provide an explanation to the international community regarding these questions,” Wang Wenbin concluded.
