The Ukrainian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dmytro Kułeba, met for a meal at McDonald’s with the US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken.

Kułeba and Blinken shared a meal at a McDonald’s restaurant in Kyiv before a press conference where Blinken accompanied President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Antony Blinken arrived in Kyiv for an unannounced two-day visit and pledged to provide financial assistance to Ukraine exceeding one billion dollars. The USA has thus far allocated over 66 billion dollars in aid to Ukraine during the war, including the supply of weaponry to the Ukrainian army.

During a meeting with journalists, Dmytro Kułeba reminded that during a phone conversation with Antony Blinken after the start of war in Ukraine, he expressed concern about the absence of McDonald’s outlets in Ukraine. Blinken promised to address the matter and the US embassy in Ukraine subsequently contacted the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

It is worth noting that in March 2022, McDonald’s closed its restaurants in Ukraine shortly after the start of the war. However, by September of the same year, some of the chain’s outlets were reopened in the war-torn country.
