According to a new survey conducted by the INSA sociological institute exclusively for BILD, support for Alternative for Germany (AfD) has reached 19.5% for the first time in the party’s history.
Moreover, AfD has yet to exhaust its potential, as analysts believe that 28.5% of Germans may vote for the right-wing party. As the popularity of Alternative for Germany grows, the Green Party is losing more and more voters, currently polling at 13%. The main force in the political arena remains the Union, a bloc of center-right political parties, which garners up to 27% support. The Free Democratic Party of Germany, compared to the previous survey, has lost one percentage point and fallen to 8%.
“The ‘Traffic Light’ (SPD, FDP, and Greens) coalition government will be punished by the voters. Opposition parties, the Union, and AfD are benefiting from this. It is impossible to govern the country without the Union and against them. The parliamentary survival of the left is under great threat,” said Hermann Binkert, head of INSA.
